The driver
From an early age, Josh Pierson’s passion for driving and determination to improve have only grown stronger. Professional, disciplined, and goal-oriented, Josh is focused on fulfilling his lifelong dream of racing full-time in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and one day winning the Indy 500.
Josh’s journey began in karting, where he captured multiple championships and twice represented Team USA at the “Olympics of Karting.” At age 13, he advanced to open-wheel racing, competing in F1600 before spending time in USF2000 as part of the Road to Indy development ladder.
At 15, Pierson shifted to endurance racing, becoming the youngest driver in history to compete in the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Just weeks later, he became the youngest in history to win in the Asian Le Mans Series with back-to-back victories in Abu Dahbi.
At 16, Pierson became the youngest winner in FIA World Endurance Championship history after claiming victory at the 1000 Miles of Sebring with teammates Olive Jarvis and Paul di Resta. That same year, he became the youngest driver ever to compete in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing 6th in his class and 10th overall with co-drivers Oliver Jarvis and Alex Lynn.
In 2023, the 17-year-old raced in his second 24 Hours of Le Mans with Oliver Jarvis and Tom Blomqvist. That year he raced with three premier programs: full-time with United Autosports in the World Endurance Championship, full-time with TDS Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and part-time with HMD Motorsports in INDY NXT by Firestone Series.
For the past two seasons, Josh has focused on open-wheel racing in North America, racing full-time for HMD Motorsports.
Currently, Josh races for Andretti Global in the INDY NXT by Firestone Series.
Known for his professionalism, focus, and technical communication, Pierson complements his racing with year-round training by logging hours in the gym, honing reflexes and coordination, and sharpening his race craft through karting and advanced simulator work. On and off the track, his focus is constant improvement, one lap at a time.
